Modesty is the Best Policy!

Stay Humble- humility -work hard

First, let’s define what Modesty is. Here is the definition from the Merriam-Webster dictionary->1. The quality of not being too proud or confident about yourself or your abilities. 2 Propriety in dress, speech, or conduct.

One of the virtues that we all should strive for is humility. (We should strive for ALL of the virtues!) For this blog, I’m particularly focusing on Humility the virtue, and Pride the vice. Modest individuals typically avoid drawing attention to themselves whereas pride is when one becomes arrogant or has extreme self-importance. They tend to only care about themselves and not others. Humble people are not only modest, but they also show a deep understanding of their imperfections and a willingness to grow and improve their shortcomings.

Wearing modest clothing that covers certain areas of the body, such as the chest, shoulders, and legs, helps us maintain that sense of humility and respect for our bodies. Our bodies belong to God. He is our Creator and He loves us. God wants us to cover up our bodies because of the shame that we should all feel when we sin against Him.

Put ye on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, the bowels of mercy, benignity, humility, modesty, patience: 13: Bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if any have a complaint against another. Even as the Lord hath forgiven you, so do you also.”

(Colossians 3:12-13)

Many women might think that it’s beautiful to show off their bodies….I know because I was one of those women before I met my Catholic Husband and we had children. I was proud. I thought I had a nice body and wasn’t ashamed, but wow! Let me tell you, I am covered in sin and I should’ve felt ashamed for offending God and for wearing clothes that didn’t cover up my body. I still sin and offend Him to this day and I still feel ashamed for the sins that I have committed against God. I hope that God has Mercy on my soul as well as everyone else’s.

Another point that I wanted to make about dressing modestly is this->If you have children or would like children in the future, would you want your boys to see half-naked women in this world?!! NO! Of Course, not! I know for sure I don’t. What about your daughter or daughters? Would you like them to dress immorally?! No, absolutely not! I am teaching my children to dress modestly and to help them protect their innocence because I know that the devil is constantly working to lead all souls to Hell.

“Let your modesty be known to all men. The Lord is nigh.”

(Philippians 4:5)
